The Revd Janette Smith has been announced as our next vicar

The Bishop of Portsmouth and the Simeon’s Trustees as Patrons are pleased to announce, subject to the usual legalities, the appointment of the Revd Janette Smith as Vicar of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Crookhorn and Assistant Curate of Purbrook St John and Portsdown Christ Church. Janette is currently Assistant Curate of Hartley Wintney St John the Evangelist, Elvetham, Winchfield and Dogmersfield. We expect that Janette will move to Crookhorn over the summer and take up her role in September.

Janette writes:
“I am very excited to have been appointed as Vicar of CoGS. God has very clearly opened this door and we are very much looking forward to walking with God alongside you.
I am thrilled that CoGS is involved in so many areas of ministry and I pray we can build on all that God is already doing as we seek to worship Him and grow as disciples of Jesus. I am eager to explore with you how the family of CoGS can continue to be a place of great fellowship and one which embraces new and innovative ways to reach our local community with the love of Jesus.
I have been married to Paul who is a licensed reader for 25 years. We enjoy the outdoors and walking with our dog, Ernie. Before being ordained I worked in IT and have led a worship band in various churches for many years. I enjoy having several creative outlets, particularly sewing and I have one of those strange minds which really enjoys cryptic crosswords.”

Janette will be licensed by the Bishop of Portsmouth on Sunday 15th September, starting at 4pm.  Refreshments will be served after the service.

If you’re coming to the service, please walk, use public transport or share with other people.  There is a bus stop outside the church building.  The car park next to the building will be reserved for the disabled.
